Shana Perlmutter Levine
Painter and multi-media artist (b. 1973)
Lives and works in Tampa, Florida
Shana believes that art, like life, transcends words. In the words of Gerhard Richter, “To talk about paintings is not only difficult but perhaps pointless too. You can only express in words what words are capable of expressing—what language can communicate. Painting has nothing to do with that.

Shana Levine refreshingly employs much of the vocabulary inherent in important abstract expressionist and color-field painter’s works. Her confident use of such color and sensuous brush strokes bring to mind the prolific works from that specific era in painting. However, this artist has the brush in her hand in our midst. The Shekina collection of her work delves into to her need to embrace the feminine touch and her mistic spiritual past. Shana’s energetic brushwork and dance-like approach to painting leaves behind her transcendental emotionality in a technicolor dream coat that dramatically unravels. This intuitive process records a ballet of emotions on the canvas for us to personally uncover.
Like all the greats, Shana pays for these paintings for us to discover with her feminine life experience. The colors are a kaleidoscope of the female experience that transcends time. Her painting, like life, leaves us longing for more.
